We offer birthing classes for you
and your partner. The series covers Lamaze breathing, delivery
options, medications available, care of your newborn and other
topics of interest to parents-to-be.
These classes are offered every other month
on Saturdays. Class size is generally limited to 10 couples, and
the classes take place at the HCMH Women's Pavilion, 209 Medical
Drive. For a current schedule of classes, click on Health
Classes & Events (from the menu at the top left of this page).
Whether you already have a family
or this is your first child, we have a seasoned team of
professionals who can help make your experience one of the most
rewarding of your life.
We'll also introduce you to the
world of registration, birth certificates and consent forms.
You’ll learn about our facilities and what to expect while
you’re at the hospital.
It’s a fun and relaxing
atmosphere, and Dad is welcome, too! We also have a class for
siblings that we provide on an as-needed basis.
Early registration is recommended so we can plan and schedule
classes for the benefit of everyone based on due dates.
To register or to get more
information, please call the OB Department at
830-997-1253, or
830-990-1833, or the

Prenatal fitness program |
|
Fit for Two is offered at the Wellness Center
and is a prenatal fitness program. It includes three exercise sessions with a
certified personal trainer who will work to create a custom program
just for you.
Options include utilizing the equipment and/or the pool at the
Wellness Center. You can also plan a walking program or an individual home
exercise program. (Remember to consult with your physician before beginning
any exercise program.)
A registered dietitian will provide you with
prenatal nutrition and will act as a resource throughout your pregnancy.
Individual consultations may be scheduled through the Wellness Center to
address specific concerns such as individual diet planning, excess weight
gain and/or gestational diabetes.
You will receive information on the Wellness
Center's breast-feeding services and on Hill Country Memorial Hospital's
childbirth classes. You will also receive $5 off a prenatal breast-feeding
consult with a trained breast-feeding counselor. If needed, you will have
available to you a free breast-feeding consultation after your delivery.
